Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 in an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi who was the Romanian gymnastics coach who became Comaneci's coach later on, discovered her at age six. Her first competitive event was The National Junior Championships which she was 13th place in 1969. In 1970, Comaneci took home the title. In her very first international competition in 1972, she took the top spot by winning three gold awards. Her debut as a Senior in 1975 she beat the Russian Lyudmila Turkishcheva, the five-time European champ winning four gold medals and one silver. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976, becoming the first female to do the backward double salto in a dismount from the uneven parallel bars. Carol Marie Wayne born 6 September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol started her entertainment career in her teens. Her career began with her joining Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling spectacle of entertainment. It featured dramatic ice-skating shows.
